0Non-production hours billed outside business hours

01The Challenge

The client needed a team to own day-to-day operations of their ECS-based infrastructure: security alerting on CI/CD, incident response, secrets and log management, and controlling cost across production and non-production environments.

02What We Did

  • Manage the ECS infrastructure on an ongoing basis, including deployments and scaling.
  • Set up CI/CD security alerting with a defined incident response process for flagged issues.
  • Built Lambda functions to support automation across the environment.
  • Automated shutdown of UAT and dev environments outside business hours to cut non-production cost.
  • Wired up SES and CloudWatch Logs for notification and monitoring coverage.
  • Used KMS and Secrets Manager for encryption and credential management instead of storing secrets in config.
  • Moved logs to S3 with lifecycle policies to control long-term storage cost.

03The Results

  • Non-production environments no longer run or cost outside business hours.
  • Security alerting and incident response are now a standing part of the CI/CD pipeline, not a manual check.
  • Secrets, encryption and log retention are centrally managed instead of scattered across services.

FAQ

Common Questions

  • Deployments and scaling of the ECS infrastructure, CI/CD security alerting with a defined incident response process, secrets and log management, and cost control across production and non-production environments — all as a standing engagement, not a one-time project.

  • UAT and dev environments are automatically shut down outside business hours, so the team still has full access during working hours but isn't paying for idle infrastructure overnight or on weekends.

  • Config-stored secrets never expire on their own and are easy to leak accidentally; centralizing them in Secrets Manager and KMS means credentials are encrypted, access is auditable, and rotation doesn't require touching application code.

AWS Infrastructure, Built From the Ground Up for an NBFC

A mid-sized NBFC had no existing cloud footprint. We designed and stood up their entire AWS environment (compute, database, content delivery, cost controls and security) as one connected build.
