InstantSourced answers to policy questions

01The Challenge

Employees had to dig through scattered internal policy documents to answer basic questions, which meant repeated interruptions to HR/ops and slow answers to simple questions.

02What We Did

  • Built a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline on AWS Bedrock so responses are grounded in the company's actual policy documents, not the model's general knowledge.
  • Indexed policy documents into a vector store on S3 Vectors for retrieval at query time.
  • Scoped the chatbot to internal use only, so employees could query it directly instead of routing questions through a person.

03The Results

  • Employees get instant, sourced answers to policy questions instead of searching documents or waiting on a colleague.
  • Fewer repetitive policy questions reaching the team responsible for handling them.

FAQ

Common Questions

  • RAG grounds an AI model's answers in your own documents instead of its general training data, so responses to policy questions are accurate and sourced from the company's actual internal documentation rather than generic knowledge.

  • No — it removes repetitive, easily-answered questions from their queue so they can focus on things that genuinely need a person, not the ones a document already answers.

  • Yes. The same RAG pattern on Bedrock works for any internal knowledge base — engineering runbooks, compliance documentation, or support macros — as long as the source documents exist and are kept current.
